On 5 June 2020, the employers` organisation and the union reached a final agreement on the 2020 collective agreement for Dutch universities. The parties agreed on a structural wage increase of 3.0% on 1 June 2020. In addition, on the basis of a full-time employment contract, all employees receive a one-time payment of 750 euros gross. In addition, 0.45% of the wage margin is earmarked for the financing of bottlenecks related to Covid-19 costs. This could include, for example, an extension of fixed-term contracts for PhD students. In addition, a mediator function will be established in all universities based on the evaluation of the Ombudsman pilot project. The parties reserve a one-time pay margin of 0.45 per cent for ancillary financing of bottlenecks in response to the costs associated with COVID 19`s problems related to the terms and conditions of employment of our employees. In this context, it may be possible to extend the working times of scientists, PhD students, teachers and support and management staff (OBPs). Agreements will be reached in the coming weeks on how universities can benefit from this reserve. The amount of staff costs to be financed can be taken into account in the salary scales of the Dutch Association of Universities (Dutch abatement: VSNU). The salary scales were agreed in the «Memorandum of Understanding for the Promotion of Scientific Research» and are based on the collective agreement (Dutch abbreviated: CAD) of Dutch universities. The information about the collective agreement provided on this site is not exhaustive, so it is not possible to deduct rights.
